Education and Athletics played an integral role in Theodore’s life. He graduated from East High School, where his extraordinary talents shone in both football and track. His dedication, passion, and unwavering spirit inspired teammates and opponents alike.
Answering the call to serve, Theodore joined the United States Navy, contributing to the country he loved with honor and distinction. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co, where his commitment and hard work earned him admiration from colleagues and peers. His retirement marked the culmination of a career marked by dedication and professionalism.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Theodore found joy in various hobbies. An avid golfer, he reveled in the challenges and camaraderie the sport offered. The serenity of fishing provided him solace, while his conversations on the CB radio connected him to a network of friends who shared his passion. Theodore’s adventurous spirit led him to explore the vibrant city of Las Vegas, where he created lasting memories.
Preceding him in death were his beloved parents, Theodore Becton Sr. and Ruby Becton, and his brothers Tommy, Roosevelt, and Ed Becton. Though their absence is deeply felt, their legacy lives on through the impact they had on Theodore’s life.
Theodore is survived by his loving daughters, Tessie Becton, Belinda Becton-McAbee, and Anessa Becton-Howard, who were blessed to have him as their guiding light. His presence will be forever cherished by his grandchildren: Anthony and Aaron Smitherman, Monique, Marquis, and Masai McAbee, and Taylor and Janay Howard. His great-grandchildren, including Ava Turner, Anthony Jr., Aubree, Aaron Jr., and Abigail Smitherman, brought immense joy to his life. Theodore is also survived by his sisters, Esther Eaves, Lorrene Watson, and Doris Rupel, whose bond with him will be treasured forever.
Theodore Becton will be remembered as a strong, compassionate, and vibrant man who made an indelible impact on the lives he touched. His love for family, his unwavering dedication to his work, and his zest for life will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
