“Reunited”
Age 97, of Akron, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at his home in Copley, Ohio. He was born on March 10, 1921, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. George spent his adolescent years in Middlesboro and immediately after attending Lincoln High School; he enlisted in The United States Navy and honorably served his country for six years. George worked for the United States Postal System and retired with 34 years of service; he also worked for the City of Akron and retired with over thirty years of service.
Preceded in death by his son, Theodore George Tye and his beloved wife of 68 years, Agnes Vinola Tye, George and Agnes are finally reunited. George relocated to Akron in 1942 for the abundance of economic opportunities, where he married Agnes and raised his four children. George was saved in Christ and was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church.
George is survived by two sons, Dwight, and Ronnie (Christina), and daughter, Georgia (Al); grandchildren, RaShana, Iris, Dwight Jr., Jermaine, Diante, Amber, Dawn, and Timothy as well as a host of great-grandchildren.
