Thomas D. Duck, affectionately known as “Tommy,” was born in Macon, Mississippi on August 9, 1946 to Thomas Duck Sr. and Inell Bennett. He was raised in a religious household.
He graduated from Central High School and enlisted in the United States Army. After serving his military time, he was honorably discharged. He worked at B.F. Goodrich until he retired; after which he enjoyed motorcycle riding. He was one of the original members of the Akron Area Zulu’s. He was also an avid poker and chess player, and enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, listening to music and gardening. He thoroughly enjoyed hosting parties for the family. But most of all, he delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. He cherished his family.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Duck Sr.; mother, Inell Bennett; sister, Virgie Boswell; daughter, Kelly King and grandson, Dierre Smith Sr.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his children, Crystal Garrett, Starlynn Garrett, Thomas Garrett and Anthony Davis; 13 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren; siblings, Edward (Pamsy) Duck, Oscar C. Duck (“Bell”) and Donell (Monika) Stone; brother-in-law, Tracey Boswell, all of Akron; special cousin, Retha Tate from Erie, PA; and special friends, Linda Batties, Ricky McDaniel and Rayford Owens.
