Thomas Lemmie Clemons, affectionately known as “Tucker” was born on September 17, 1947, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He graduated from Southern University Laboratory School in 1965 and continued his studies at Southern University A&M college where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. His opportunity to utilize his professional skills relocated Tucker to Schenectady, New York, Erie, Pennsylvania and on to Cleveland, Ohio with an illustrious career with General Electric. Cleveland became his home where he resided for more than 40 years.
Tucker accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Zion 1st Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. After establishing himself in Cleveland, he became a member of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church. Tucker became a student of the gospel of Jesus Christ and decided to extend his love for Christ. He was celebrated as an ordained minister of the gospel on November 10, 2019, under the auspices of Rev. James R. Guy, Pastor of Christ the King Missionary Baptist Church. His installation as Minister Clemons, also officiated by Rev Guy, took place Sunday, November 24, 2019, where he gave first of many sermons at Mt. Moriah Christian Center in Orange Village, Ohio.
Thomas was a devoted father to his son, Kevin, and he adored his grandson, Maverick. He played very intricate roles in the lives of his nephew, Troy and niece, Kesi. Tucker loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his relatives and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who know him.
Thomas is preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle A. Redd, stepfather Ulysses A. Redd, father, Thomas “Peppie” Clemons, brother, Warren Earl Clemons and sister, Janice Clemons, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
He leaves his memory to cherish to his loving son Kevin Clemons, grandson Maverick Clemons, sister, Karen Redd (Atlanta Ga), niece, Kesi Redd (Thomaston, Ga.) nephew, Troy Knight and Wanda (Pineville, La), great nieces, great nephews, and a host of beloved cousins, relatives and friends.
