Thurman Lee Jones was born January 2, 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late James C. Jones, Sr. and Elzoria Jones. Lee was the ninth of 10 children born to this union. Lee accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Lee A. Trotter at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church where he served on usher board and in the choir. Lee attended the Cleveland Public Schools and graduated in 1979 from John F. Kennedy where he excelled in the sport of football, which he loved more than life itself. Lee was a tremendous athlete and his talent caught the eye of many and became known to many as “White Shoes.” After high school, Lee received a football scholarship to Tennessee State and later attended Central State University where he continued his football career. After playing football in college, he then spent a few years playing semi-pro football with a few teams, such as the Cleveland Stallions and the Lions. After football was no longer an option, Lee went on to work for various jobs until he became disabled. He was a die-hard football fan with his favorite team being the Kansas City Chiefs. Lee also enjoyed watching his son, James Lee play sports from muny league to high school and then college. Lee loved to make his family laugh, loved music, collecting pictures and of course his sports. Lee was called home to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 21, 2021. He leaves to cherish his loving sons, James Lee (Tiffany) and Charles; three sisters: Barbara, Luzette, Starlette; one brother: Carl Jones, Sr (Adriane); one brother-n-law: Benny Wilson and a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews and host of family and friends. Preceding him in death are his sisters, Vivian, Patricia, Hazel and Janie; one brother James, Jr.; one brother-in-law Rockie Chandler; and one sister-n-law Pippy.
