Vashti Lenora Bowers 90 passed on to be with the Lord on April 21, 2019. She was born on January 17, 1929 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Charlie and Lucinda Smith. Both of whom preceded her in death.

She was one of the founding members of Sacrificial Baptist Church and was a faithful member who also served as executive administrative secretary.  Upon moving into the New Season’s senior apartments in 2012, Vashti enjoyed attending church services and bible study at the House of The Lord.

Vashti served as a client advocate for social services at Murtis H. Taylor multi-services center. She also was a successful travel organizer and once owned her own travel agency and took many trips abroad.

Vashti married Paul Bowers, William’s stepfather in 1958 in Bay City, Michigan. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio in the early 1960’s.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, she was the youngest of 11 siblings and was the only living survivor.

She is survived by her only child William Beard (Gloria); six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren;  five great-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
