Vera Christine Kinnebrew-Morris (neé Woodard) was born November 12, 1928 in Gayesville, Alabama to CB Woodard Sr. and Jimmie Woodard. To this union were also born Irene, Ophelia, Melvin, Theodis (all preceding her in death), Jennie Ruth, CB Jr. and Barbara.
Vera met the great George Walker Kinnebrew Sr. (preceded in death) and they married in 1948. To their union were born 5 children: Carol Elaine, George Walker “Spud” Kinnebrew Jr. (preceded in death), Cynthia Yvonne, Sonya Renee (preceded in death) and Elizabeth. Together, Vera and “G” (as he was affectionately referred to) gave their lives to the Lord and served the Lord in many capacities at Holsey Sanai CME Church in Rome, GA.
After the tragic death of her husband G in December 1980, Vera moved with her remaining family to Cleveland, OH in November 1983. Vera was then blessed a second time (she was one amazing woman) with another amazing husband, Robert Morris (preceded in death) in 1983.
Upon coming to Cleveland, Vera joined Christian Tabernacle Evangelistic Church under the pastorship of Rev. William T. Sawyer in 1986 where she and Robert served as trustees. After the passing of Pastor Sawyer, she transitioned to Greater Christian Tabernacle Evangelistic Church under the pastorship of Pastor Tossie Wiley, where she was ordained an elder.
Vera was a loving and nurturing woman whose walk with the Lord was an exemplary example and inspiration to others. She counseled and led many people to Christ, living with an emphasis that loving one another was the only way and obedience to the Lord was the best way to love and bless Him for all He does for us! She took her love of the Lord seriously. He was her everything and there was absolutely no compromising or “fence walking” when it came to her serving Him. She lived for Him because He died for her.
Vera had a sense of humor like no other. She had an “unbothered” edge that kept her young.
Vera had an amazing sense of style. We didn’t call her “Glamour Girl” for no reason. The way that style translated into the way she kept her home, immaculate and beautiful was very important to her.
In the final years of her life, Vera was cared for by her daughter Elizabeth, her granddaughter Candace and great-granddaughter Farrah. An abundance of love and special memories made this time unforgettable for them all. Movie nights, Bible Studies and more.
Vera leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Carol (Alfred) Dunklin, Cynthia (Marco) Innis and Elizabeth (Robert) Crawford. Grandchildren Tamara, Travis (Deenah), Krystle, Candace, Ray, Danielle, Qua’Martez, Lawrence Du’Wayne, Alfred, Nikki, Keisha, George and Kimara. Many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Siblings Jennie (Carl preceded) Ross, CB (Cathy) Woodard, Barbara (Marvin preceded) Peeks and Dorothy Macon. Many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives, friends, and spiritual family.
