Vernita Hall was born January 13, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the fifth child of Willie J. & Virgie Reese who preceded her in death. She attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in June 1973. She attended Akron University. She worked at Ameritrust for 10 years, at Progressive Insurance for 16 years and retired from the Department of Veteran Affairs after 11 years.
She met the love of her life George Kenneth Hall, and they were united in Holy Matrimony September 25th, 1982. They remained faithfully married for 39 years. George and Vernita had no biological children of their own, but were instrumental in helping to raise several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was very active. She enjoyed traveling with her family not only in the United States but also in other countries such as: Mexico, Jamaica, Barbados, Costa Rica, and cruises to various islands.
She was adventurous and enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, snorkeling, jet skiing, bowling, and various other activities. Vernita was truly the one that could Shop Til You Drop, (nobody could last shopping in stores as long as her). She enjoyed watching sports and was a loyal supporter of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Pittsburgh Steelers (of course because of George).
Matthew 23:11 The greatest among you will be your servant. The greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one who has a servant heart. Vernita’s family, her ETOF Church family and all who really knew her would say she was the greatest servant we have ever known! She was indeed very bossy and could hit you hard with her words but would turn right around and give you the shirt off of her back and roll up her sleeves to serve you with all of her gifts and abilities, especially with her cooking and organizational skills. George and Vernita were not always timely, so she may not have been the first to arrive at the events, but she was always the last to leave serving until the end. George and Vernita were also cheerful givers, they gave out more Christmas presents than anyone we know.
Vernita accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and became a charter member of Holy Temple Church of God under the ministry of her parents Pastors Willie J. & Virgie Reese. The Church is now named: Evangelistic Temple of Faith and is under the leadership of her brother Pastor Marvin Reese. She was a faithful member under the pastorate of her parents and her brother at Evangelistic Temple of Faith. She was responsible for the cleaning of the Church. She also served as Head Usher, Children’s Church Teacher, a member of the Trustee Dept., and the head of Special Events: preparing and serving food. She was faithful in all that she did for her Church. She loved her church family and they loved her.
She departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Her sister Yolanda Reese preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband George Kenneth (Kenny) Hall, her stepdaughter LaMonica Kirk, 3 Grandchildren: David Zeigler III, Twin girls: Reese & Keira, 2 Brothers: Marvin (Gail), Floyd (Cherlyn), 3 Sisters: Loretta Jennings (Robert), Renee Hendon, Kimberly Coleman (Mark). 3 Brother-in-laws: Michael Hall, Robert A. Hall (Wendy), Darryl Hall (Cynthia), 2 Sister-in-laws: Phyllis Bender, Beverly Simmons (Darrell), 4 Godchildren: Maurice Greene (Karla), Kelli Roberson (Jason), Robbie Cecil, Kellen Milton, 2 uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
Humbly Submitted,
