Vernon proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, demonstrating honor, discipline, and commitment to service.
Vernon met and married the love of his life, Deloris (Browder) Flowers, and they shared 59 ½ beautiful years of marriage before her passing in January 2019. Their union was a shining example of love, faith, and devotion.
Vernon accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully served in the church throughout his life. He sang in a quartet, played the xylophone, and served in various ministries. He was a devoted member and Deacon of the Citadel of Faith Ministries, where Administrative Assistant, Superintendent David S. McKenzie Sr. serves as pastor.
Known for his deep love for family, quiet strength, and steady wisdom, Vernon was a man of integrity, kindness, and faith. He worked faithfully as a mechanical engineer and retired from International Business Machines (IBM) after many years of dedicated service.
Deacon Vernon Lee Flowers leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving children:
Vanessa A. Flowers, Vernon T. Flowers (“Tenna”) of Florida, Veda L. Flowers of Ohio, Venita L. Flowers, and Vicki R. Flowers-Bailey of Florida; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his gentle spirit, his love of worship, and the legacy of love he planted in the hearts of all who knew him.
