Obituary for Von Ellen Wallace
Von Ellen Wallace, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, educator, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at the age of 74. Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, on November 8, 1951, Von lived a life marked by service, compassion, and a deep commitment to uplifting others through education.
Von was the cherished daughter of William James Wallace and Doris Elaine Wallace. She grew up surrounded by the love of her family and community, forming bonds that remained strong throughout her life. She attended East High School before transferring to Buchtel High School, where she graduated in 1969.
Education was both her passion and her calling. Von earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from the University of Akron in 1974, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Education. She began her teaching career in Akron, where she taught Adult Vocational courses for the Akron Public Schools, helping countless adults gain skills, confidence, and new opportunities.
In 1989, Von moved to Dallas, Texas, to further pursue her career in education. She went on to teach for the Dallas Independent School District, where she served faithfully for more than 20 years before retiring. Her students remember her as patient, encouraging, and unwavering in her belief that everyone deserved a chance to learn and grow.
Von’s life was rich with joy and simple pleasures. She was a proud Dallas Cowboys fan, cheering them on with passion every season. She loved soul music, which filled her home and her heart with rhythm, memory, and warmth.
She is survived by her loving brothers:
• Martin Elliot Wallace of Upland, California
• Allen Glenn Wallace (Vera Wallace) of Akron, Ohio
Her legacy continues through her nieces and nephews:
• Jamar Tremaine
• Allen James Wallace (Shakira Williams)
• Allen Jr.

She is also remembered with love by her cousins:

Von shared a special bond with many, but the family extends a heartfelt thank you to her dear friend, Vera Humphrey, whose companionship and support brought comfort and joy to Von’s life.
Von Ellen Wallace will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to education, her love of family, and her unwavering belief in the potential of every person she encountered. Her impact lives on in the lives she touched, the students she inspired, and the family who will forever cherish her memory.
