On Friday, July 23, 2021, our wonderful beloved husband, father, great-grandfather, and brother slipped into eternal peace. Walter was born in Birmingham, Alabama and he was the first of three sons, to the late Walter C. Hodge Sr. and Mary Hodge.
“Tito” lived his early life in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to Akron in 1987. He attended and graduated from East High School in Cleveland. He also attended Cuyahoga Community College and obtained an associate degree. He later attended Dyke College where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
He was a faithful member of the House of The Lord, for over 25 years. He loved working in the parking lot, so he could talk to everyone. He worked at Euclid White Motors as a manager and foreman for over 30 years until his retirement. He then worked at Macy’s which was a dream job because he loved to shop.
In 1966 he married Betty Ligon Hodge, and from this union was born their beautiful daughter Shelly Darnece. In 1990, he married Sandra Carter Hodge, and embraced three more lovely daughters, Terri, Carolyn, and Alicia.
He had a love for many sports, including golf, racquetball, chess, and much love for his “tech toys,” of which he had many. Tito was also the president of the Cleveland Corvette Club. He loved his “little red corvette.”
Walter was preceded in death by his parents Walter C. Hodge, Sr., Mary Hodge McCloud, and John McCloud, Sr.; brothers, Samuel, and James Hodge; sisters, Mary Ann McCloud, and adopted sister, Stephanie Caldwell.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sandra; daughters, Shelly, Terri, Carolyn, and Alicia; favorite son-in-law, Kelly; sister-in-law, Teresa Hodges; brothers-in-law, Timothy, and Cleve Hodges; brothers, John McCloud Jr., and adopted brother, Jerome Walker; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous good friends.
