Walter James Hawkins was born April 21, 1964, to the late Frank Hawkins and Sadie M. Carroll, in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was educated in the Cleveland Public School System. Prior to his illness, he was employed as a cameraman for WEWS Channel 5 and a cable technician for Time Warner.
Walter was quite a character and jack of all trades, he was an intelligent, very strong, proud, and self-sufficient man. He believed in family and God. Walter loved all his family and close friends.
Walter had a quick wit and sense of humor. He appreciated and engaged in the simple pleasures of life.
Walter was always around and enjoyed friends and family gatherings. He took pride in the opportunity to critique the host and sample the food, sharing his comments, which made everyone laugh.
Walter had hearty laughter. He enjoyed a good story, finding humor in being told a good story and making up a good story, just to capture your attention and savor your reaction, all the while making the moment of laughter unforgettable and priceless.

Walter was blessed to have and leaves to cherish two beautiful daughters, Desiree Hawkins (Atlanta, GA) and Skye Hawkins; three sisters, Emily Owens, Faye Ford, and Wendy Hawkins (Cleveland, Ohio); one brother, Franchott Hawkins (Mesquite TX); and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
