Wanda White fondly known as “Lois” was born in Maryville, Tennessee to the late James and Selina Donahue on May 12, 1942. Wanda was the youngest of 10 children. She graduated from Alcoa High School in Tennessee. She moved to Cleveland when she was 18 years old, where she attended Case Western Reserve college. At the early age of 18, she got married to her husband, George Blackwell. In that union, they had 4 children: Carla, George Jr. “Lamarr”, Marsha and Crystal. After getting divorced, Wanda got remarried to Paul White (Deceased).
She worked for General Electric starting in Production, then later as a Guard until she retired in 1988.
Wanda accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was Baptized at Adams Avenue Church of Christ in 1978. She was an active and longtime member in the church. She was noted for her strong and beautiful voice. Her favorite song being “Just a little Talk with Jesus”. In 1986, she placed her membership at Forest Hills Church of Christ. In 2014, she placed her membership at Newburgh Church of Christ (now known as Church of Christ at Center Rd).
In her early years, Wanda enjoyed bowling and was in multiple bowling tournaments. Her style and grace on the bowling alley was something to admire. Wanda was also known for her creative and artistic abilities. She was known for her Ceramic Angels, African Figurines and Paintings. Painting and art were her passion and gave her a lot of Joy. She started selling her art and ceramics in Euclid Square Mall until she obtained her own 2 shops in Maple Hts. and in Euclid, Ohio. She continued to do her art from home until she became ill.
Wanda was the Matriarch of the family. She was the Heart and soul. She had a Loving and giving heart. No one was a stranger to her. She would give her last to anyone that was in need. She often gave out her paintings and ceramics as gifts to anyone who enjoyed her work.
Her family was her world. She loved being with her children and grandchildren traveling and going to family gatherings. Her passion and love for her family was undeniable. She instilled into her family spiritual guidance and the act of forgiveness. At family events, she was always the center of attention. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren dance and sing and would often join in. She found listening to her daughter Marsha and her grandson, Jeremy TRY to sing humors and would make them feel like they could really sing when the entire family knew better.
Wanda passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, grandchildren and her children’s father on September 24, 2024.
Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter, Carla “Vicky” Blackwell and Son n law, Michael Boone. She leaves to cherish her memories, her 3 children: George, Marsha and Crystal. Son n law-Ruben Elie, 8 Grandchildren: (Tia, Jamarr, Jeremy, Micah, Tony, Jaylen, Braxton, and Kennedy) and 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
Wanda also leaves to mourn her loss a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
