Wanda Renee Hicks went home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2025, with her family by her side.
Wanda was born August 15, 1952 to her loving parents Eloise and Elmer Mosley in Akron, OH. She attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from South High School. After post-secondary education, she entered the workforce serving as a secretary for Laborers 894 which was one of her favorite positions. She began a career at Ohio Bell in 1981 and after 30 years of service, she retired from what ultimately became AT&T.
Wanda’s love story with her one true love, Michael Hicks, was celebrated by marriage on June 28, 1986. Married by the late Dr. Arthur E. Kemp, former Pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Wanda and Michael were able to quickly and successfully complete their premarital counseling and were married for 27 blessed years upon the passing of her sweetheart Michael in 2013. Wanda believed wholeheartedly in the gift of marriage and was often encouraging and counseling couples to have a thriving marriage, acknowledging the love she had found and nurtured.
Three years into marriage, Wanda and Michael birthed their beloved daughter, Bianca Nicole Hicks, and together they raised Bianca and oldest son, Timothy Carl Mosley. Wanda was an incredible wife and mother. She led by example to help her children have the best possible life with Christ as their guide. Wanda was a devoted daughter and after her father’s passing, she took excellent care of her mother until her passing in 2023.
Wanda dedicated her life to Christ at a young age. Her commitment to living a life to honor Jesus Christ is made evident through the lives she has impacted and her decades of service inside and outside of The Church. Wanda began her journey in ministry at Mount Olive Baptist Church, serving within the choir, nurse’s guild, the announcements team, and as a Deacon alongside her husband. In 2000, she and her family continued in ministry at The House of the Lord and Wanda dedicated over two decades as a Deacon, and Altar team member. As a deacon she loved visiting and praying for the sick and bereaved. She found joy in welcoming individuals at the Altar and guiding them into the most important decision of their life, deciding to make a home for Jesus Christ in their heart. Wanda deeply loved those she served alongside at The House of the Lord and the relationships she built at The Remedy Church, where she loved witnessing her daughter minister through song and leadership.
Wanda deeply loved people and had a special gift for encouraging those around her. Uplifting others through laughter, generosity, and delivering a timely word of encouragement, were signature fruits of Wanda’s love and godly wisdom. To love Wanda and to have been loved by her are truly precious gifts from God; she will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Wanda was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 27 years, Michael Hicks, parents, Eloise and Elmer Mosley, mother-in-law, Rosie Hicks, brother Victor Mosley, and brothers-in-law George Hicks and Gregory Hicks.
