Mr. Wilbur Lavert Headen Jr., of Maple Heights Ohio, born on November 12, 1940 to his parents, Wilbur L. Headen Sr. and Ernestine Headen (both deceased) passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025. A devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend, he dedicated his life to service, family and faith.
Wilbur served with distinction as a law enforcement investigator for the Cleveland Police Department, investigator and sergeant at MetroHealth Hospital, and retired as a security manager for the Shaker Heights Library. He was admired for his integrity, professionalism and compassion. Beyond his career, he was an extraordinary artist and a lover of music, especially jazz. He found joy and inspiration in creative expression.
He is survived by his children, Melanie Headen, Wendy Headen, grandchildren, Anthony and Amaya Coe; children of the heart, Tyrome Smith, and Andrea Smith and beloved friend, Lillian “Fuzzy” Keith. He is also survived by his siblings, Margaret Ann Rose, deceased (John deceased), Sharon Borders (Lenzie deceased), Lamont Headen (Candy), Linda Todd (Carl), Brian Headen (Mikoyan), Audrey Rush (Thomas) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will continue to honor his legacy.
Mr. Wilbur Lavert Headen Jr., will forever remain a blessing, and the family extends a heartfelt thanks to all who share in celebrating his life.
