On September 18, 1962, a queen, Willene Marchelle Marsh, was born to Linda Whetstone and Bill (Bobby) Marsh. Soon afterward, on July 2, 1975, she was adopted by Albert (Tennie Mae Simpson) Holsey and then became Willene Marchelle Holsey. She was a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio, where she attended West Junior High School and graduated from John R. Buchtel High School.
She was a faithful member of The House of Prayer For All People Church, where she followed her beloved Pastors R. Stacey and Lynnette “Lennie” Jenkins whom she loved dearly. You couldn’t say anything about her First Lady. Known for her groundbreaking attributes, she was one of the first women construction workers in Summit County and she loved it! She was a published author and had many hobbies and past-times, such as writing poetry, crocheting, cooking, baking and designing t-shirts. She loved praying for people, no matter where she was , and her most treasured memories were spending time with family and friends.
Sadly, on April 22, 2021, Willene left her earthly body and went home to be with the Lord.
Willene was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mable (James) Suggs; father, Bill Marsh; adopted parents Albert and Tennie Mae Holsey; sisters, Rochelle Correll and Toni Holsey.
She leaves to celebrate her homegoing, her loving children, Lamar (JaMeka) Holsey, Shana (Adriel) Wilson, LaBarbara Saafir and Asya Tipton, all of Akron, Ohio; her mother, Linda Whetstone; dear friend, Trinka Saafir; siblings, Carolyn Holsey, Francine (Charles) Blackwell, Angel Langsten, Joni (Larry) Tyson, Cheyenne Fitzgerald, Torey (Mandy) Marsh, Charlotte Wade, Ann Hendershot and Ann Holsey; grandchildren, Izaic Dudley, Izaiah Dudley, Nastaja Sykes, Trinka Saafir and Ericka Patten; bonus children, Corey Suggs, Shalana Suggs, Monique Sales, Erica Amos and Geno Suggs; bonus sisters, Lesley King, Christine (Jaland) Finney, Cynthia Brooks, Courtney Trice and Liz Cody; along with a host of other family members and friends.
