William Arthur Calhoun was born October 4, 1934, in Tuskegee Alabama to the union of Lillian Hall Calhoun and Walter Calhoun. He was the eldest of seven children, four boys and three girls. William Arthur Calhoun was born October 4, 1934, in Tuskegee Alabama to the union of Lillian Hall Calhoun and Walter Calhoun. He was the eldest of seven children, four boys and three girls.
He confessed to Christ at an early age at Hickory Grove A.M.E. Methodist Church. He was educated in Macon County Tuskegee Alabama. He attended Washington Public School Tuskegee Institute High School where he was an honor roll student, also he attended Tuskegee Institute College.
In 1952 he dropped out of school and moved to Cleveland, Ohio to help support his mother.
In June of 1953 he married Bessie Mae Hamilton and of this were born 4 children: Beverly Torian, Marilyn Calhoun, Carolyn Parks, (Ted Parks), and Lillian Calhoun, and also helped raise four beautiful stepchildren.
He was employed at RTA for many years and was retired for 20 years.
August of 1971 he married Johnnie May Harvey and of this union were born 3 children: William Calhoun, Arthur Calhoun (Darnetta Calhoun), and Candice Calhoun. They were married for 53 years.
There are others known to be Rodney Darden (Brother) and host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many more.
For his outside activities he loved bowling, fishing, gameshows, and old westerns and he loved baseball.
He was a loving man and a faithful member of Green Grove Baptist Church who Loved the Lord. He was a Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, and a Deacon who had a very acquired fashion sense. Everyone loved him, and he will be forever missed. Rest Easy
