William Kelly Logan was born on February 13, 1953, to the late Kelly and Esther Mae Logan in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the third oldest of five children and was also affectionately known as “Billy” by his family and closest friends.
William attended Cleveland public schools and went on to attend Cleveland State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in finance. He worked in various positions in his field as a bank manager for National City Bank (PNC), Society Bank (Key Bank), and a loan officer for the Greater Cleveland Growth Association. Also, in 1975, William married Pamela Copeland and three children came from that union.
The most significant achievement of William’s life was when he came to know and love Jehovah, the true God thereby symbolizing his dedication to Jehovah by water baptism on January 8, 1983. In the spring of 1995 William met his beloved Daphne and the two were married on November 11, 1995. They built a life centered on spiritual pursuits, most importantly the preaching of the “good news of God’s Kingdom” as commanded by Christ Jesus. In 1999, William joined Daphne in full-time work as an evangelizer (regular pioneer). This brought him the most joy and satisfaction. In fact, he was proud to let people know that he sacrificed a lucrative career in the secular world and worked various part-time jobs and eventually became a part-time landscaper just to support his family and remain in this all-important work. William stayed active in his ministry until he fell asleep in death on April 5, 2024.
William was known as a kind, loving and patient man, especially by his wife Daphne. He was known as a “man’s man” by his sons. He served as an elder in the East Side, Eddy Road, and Van Aken congregations. In this position he became beloved to many because of his kindness and willingness to assist. One of his favorite scriptures was Proverbs 19:17 which says: “The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah, And He will repay him for what he does.” This was an important principle to him, and he extended his hand to anyone he could, especially spiritually.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Reggie, John Lee and Joe Nathan. William will be missed by so many throughout and we look forward to seeing him again in the earthly paradise to come. He is survived by his dear wife Daphne; his sons: William “Eric” (Tomika) (Euclid, OH), Christopher (Atlanta, GA) and Sean (Cleveland, OH); his sister: Carolyn Cobbs (Landon) (University Heights, OH); grandchildren: Lauren Matthew, Wynter Symone, Brianna Desireè, and Tianna Neveah; and many other dear family and friends.
