William McIntyre was born in Cleveland, Ohio to William L. McIntyre and Carrie McIntyre on August 20, 1939. He was a lifetime resident of the city of Cleveland and the state of Ohio. He was affectionately known as Bill, Billy, and Brother. He was called “Brother” because his mother and father said it was easier for his sisters to refer to him. Eventually, the whole family called him “Brother” including aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and friends. Billy was a cute, spunky little boy with curly hair who loved to go fishing and play baseball with his father.

Bill was a popular football player at John Adams High School and graduated from John Adams High School in 1958. He was an award-winning, Golden Gloves boxer and was respected for this achievement. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged in May of 1964. Bill was very proud of his country and the opportunity to serve. He wore his Air Force hat proudly and displayed his service emblems on his car for all to see.

Bill married Marie Venable and to that union were born Kevin and Paula. On April 30, 1994 Bill and Gwen were married. Bill joined Lee Road Baptist church in Cleveland, Ohio on October, 2nd, 1994. Bill and Gwen were constant companions and always enjoyed each other’s company. Bill leaves to cherish in his memory, a loving wife, Gwendolyn McIntyre, stepsons Kareem Miller (LaShaun) and Robert D. Miller, Son, Kevin McIntyre(Tina), daughter Paula Thompson (Scott), grandchildren Kevin Michael, Brittany, Phillip, Scottie, Mason, Cortland, Renee, Richelle, and Reah, and their mother Roeshana Boyd, and three siblings, sisters Effie Robinson (Gilfford) and Dorothy Esmond (Mert) and brother Leroy McIntyre, and a host of nieces, nephews, great grand children, and friends.

Bill was an avid sportsman who participated in many sports. The ones he enjoyed the most were fishing, boxing, baseball, and bowling. He spent many days on the Ohio lakes. He played organized baseball for Van Dorn,

where he was employed at one time. He bowled in many leagues throughout the years and even bowled a 298, leaving a 7-10 split, as the only two pins left standing. Bill was the life of any party and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

In his later years, you could find Bill and Gwen at any local yard sale, where they would bring the goodies home and share them with anyone who had a need. Eventually, holding their own garage sale, and started their journey all over again, of visiting new and exciting yard sales. Not only did he enjoy playing sports, but he also loved to watch the Indians, Cavs, and Browns, sharing his own commentary on what was needed for success with each franchise. After Bill retired he loved to tinker in his garage and basement and spent lazy days on the golf course, fishing, and also served on the Maple Heights City Council.

As he got older he had many health challenges, but with each new challenge, he embraced it and planned to live life to its fullest each day. Bill and Gwen had a special love relationship that lives on in her heart. As she said she has many years of wonderful memories to treasure. For Gwen and Bill each day was a joy for them to share with each other.
