Deacon William Morris was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia on July 24,1941 to the late Irene Thomas-Morris and Pete Morris. He attended Monitor High School in Georgia and later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1960.
William received his carpentry training while working at Holzheimer’s in Cleveland. He started working at Classic Interiors Completion in 1997 as a highly skilled cabinet maker and leader/mentor for young talent. He was also a FAA Certified Repairman for Corporate Aircraft Interiors. William retired from Classic Interiors Completion in 2010. In his spare time, he often shared his wood working talents with family and friends, by helping them do home repairs and renovations.
In 1988, William married Karen Brown and their blended family included their children Shaun, Scott, Kevin and Kim.
William loved sports. He enjoyed being a spectator at almost any sporting event. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and shooting pool. His love for football, led him to serve as the head football coach for the Cleveland Express semi-pro football team for several years.
Deacon Morris was a Christian and he loved the Lord. He attended several churches in Cleveland, Ohio including St. Ann Deliverance Tabernacle and Greater Whitestone Baptist Church. While at Greater Whitestone, he served as the Chairman of the Trustee Board, member of the Deacon Board and an active member of the Male Chorus. William enjoyed attending church and most recently he became a member of his community church, Christian Assembly in Richmond Hts., Ohio.
His memory will be lovingly cherished by his wife, Karen and children, Shaun (April), Scott (Shirley), Kevin (Nancy) and Kimberly (André); his ten (10) grandchildren; brother, Norman and sisters, Annelle (Jimmie) and Betty; his treasured friends, John Butler and Charles “Tony” Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
His brothers, Otis, Artis, Henry and Charles, and his sister Grace preceded him in death.
