William Tony Prince Jr. was born October 9, 1938, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late Pauline Williams and William Tony Prince Sr. During his early years the family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where William would grow into the hardworking man his family knew him to be. As a young adult, William proudly served his country in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge after many years of his service. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the Army, he began and maintained a lucrative career in construction for more than 20 years before retiring. Following his time in the service he also met Geraldine Hale, the two eventually joined in holy matrimony on August 15, 1966. From this union three girls, Chanita, Theresa, Yolanda, and one son, William III were born.
William enjoyed playing chess, cards, watching old western films, martial arts films, and fishing. He went fishing often and would come home to fry up his catch of the day. He was a man who lived life exactly as he wanted, loved to look his best, always well dressed, and knew how to have a good time. To most he was known as “Will,” but to his grandchildren he was “DaDa.” He would empty all the change from his pockets to give to them. He had a very sociable personality, he was well known and loved throughout his neighborhood. He’s a soul whose physical presence will be greatly missed.
