William “Rick” Taylor, 80, of Las Vegas, Nevada, departed this earthly dwelling on February 17th, 2022. “Rick” was born January 25, 1942, in Ravenna, OH as the second son and third oldest child of Earl and Hattie Mae (Hicks) Taylor. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Army on July 19, 1963, until he was honorably discharged July 18th,1969. He returned to his military career, enlisting in the U.S. Marines until his second honorable discharge August 23,1971. He received numerous awards for his service and conduct including the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, The Parachute Badge and his most cherished The Purple Heart Medal of Honor. Following his retirement, he went on to work a variety of manufacturing positions from Oak Rubber, General Electric and Libby Glass throughout his residencies in CA and OH. “Rick” was an avid member of his local VFW Post 1055 in Ravenna, OH and The Men’s Civic Club auxiliary board. William, known to many for his fashionable wardrobe, shiny Cadillac car collection and CD player full of Al Green, left a legacy in history as well as ALL our domino tables.
“Rick” was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Mae Taylor; father, Earl Taylor; siblings, Eddie Taylor, Annabelle Taylor, Jerry Taylor, Donnie Taylor, Ronnie Taylor, and Catherine Brown.
His memories will be forever cherished by his remaining brothers, Victor (Frankie) Taylor (Patty Taylor) (Ravenna), and Bernard Taylor (Georgia); aunt, Edna Taylor (Ravenna); children, Robin Renee Davis (Las Vegas, NV), Tyrone William Taylor (Columbus, OH), Douglas Earl Taylor (Columbus, OH), Tauyna Renee Pickett (Jahdai Pickett) (North Hollywood, CA), and Mariah Nicole Taylor-Solomon (Bryant Solomon) (Kent, OH); 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
