Willie James Robinson entered into eternal rest and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Willie James was born on January 12, 1948, in Union, Alabama, to the late Willie Lee Robinson and Mary Elizabeth Norwood Hardy. Baptized at an early age and raised with strong values of faith, hard work, and family, Willie carried these principles with him throughout his life.
After graduating from Carver High School in Eutaw, Alabama, Willie relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he later enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his bravery, service, and sacrifice.
Following his military service, Willie began a long and dedicated career at LTV Steel. Known for his strong work ethic and ability to fix almost anything, he wore many hats throughout his life. He was not only a steelworker, but also a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring brother, supportive uncle, and trusted friend. Whether helping family, working with his hands, or offering advice, Willie was someone people could always depend on.
On July 1, 1972, Willie married the love of his life, Richardean Robinson. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering commitment. Their union was blessed with three children: Venus, Devin, and Shannan.
After retirement, Willie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, talking shop with family and friends, and spending countless hours tinkering in the garage, where he could often be found working on projects and repairing whatever needed fixing.
Willie was preceded in death by his father, Willie Lee Robinson; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Norwood Hardy; his brothers, Jackie, Jimmie Lee, Willie Mack, and Eddie Dean; and his sisters, Clara, Sammie, Patricia, Ruby, Pearlie, Willie Mae and sister-in-law Genice.
He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory his beloved wife of 54 years, Richardean Robinson; his children, Venus (Daniel II) Brinson, Devin (Teisha) Robinson, and Shannan Robinson; and his four cherished grandchildren, Jamir Sullivan, Creed Robinson, Kingston Robinson, and Daniel Brinson III.
He is also survived by his loving siblings: Amos (Helen) Norwood, James Robinson, Mildred (Elie) Thomas, Morris (Linda) Robinson, Elizabeth (Darren) Meadows, Priscilla Crawford, Hildegard Robinson, Otis (Dorothy) Robinson, Betty Johnson, Louise (Henry) Harkness, Bessie Robinson, Yvonne Robinson, McKiva (Avery) Wilson, Raymond (Phyllis) Robinson, Rosie Ann (Dempsey) Jackson, and Rosie Nell Rancher; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Willie’s legacy of love, strength, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will be treasured forever, and his impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.
