Willie J. Starks passed away on February 19, 2019, at the age of 84.
He was born in Browns, Alabama on September 27, 1934, to Will and Mattie Starks.
At about the age of 6 the young family moved to Akron, Ohio where he was raised with his 5 younger siblings; John, Martha, Joe (Bobby), Geraldine (Lois), and Ernest (Ernie). He graduated from South High School and attended Kent State as a Biology major before he went to the Army on July 30, 1957. He was honorably discharged on June 22, 1959. The majority of his working career was at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. from which retired in 1992 as a Scheduler of Quality Control Supervisor.
Bill married Jean Lois Wilson on August 22, 1964. They had four children, Christi A. Starks (Boyd), Kira J. Starks (Bradley), James “Corey” Starks, and Karlton E. Starks.
Bill was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Akron, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents Will and Mattie Starks; siblings John Starks and Martha Starks, and son-in-law Timothy Bradley. Bill is survived by his wife Jean; siblings Joe “Bobby” (Carole) Starks, Geraldine “Lois” (Jerry) Collins, Ernest Starks, and sister-in-law Sallie Starks; children Christi (Spencer) Boyd, Kira Bradley, James “Corey” (Tracey) Starks, and Karlton (Aliceia) Starks; grandchildren Brittany Boyd, Spencer “Tre” Boyd III, Madison Starks, Catherine “McKenzy” Starks, Morgan Starks, Nyah Bradley, Tai Bradley, and Arianna Starks; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and close family friends.
