Willie L. Tyson’s life, which began on April 6, 1956, in Taylor, MS, was a testament to faith, dedication, and love. Born to the late Q.V. Tyson and Collier Tyson, Willie’s early years were shaped by a strong spiritual foundation. He embraced Christ as his personal savior and was baptized, finding solace and guidance in his faith.
His educational journey led him to Ohio, where he pursued his studies and proudly graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, a milestone that set the stage for his future endeavors.
Willie dedicated his working years to Swagelok Corporation, where he contributed his skills and expertise until his retirement in 2022. His commitment and hard work were evident in his professional endeavors.
As a member of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Jawanza K Colvin, Willie found community and spiritual nourishment, shaping his life with values of faith and service.
On November 14, 2023, Willie transitioned from this earthly existence to join the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that touched many lives.
Willie is survived by his three brothers: Mike Tyson (Caroline), Gary Tyson (Nora), and Jerry Tyson (Julia), and his two sisters: Annie K Tyson and Luella (Tyson) Westerfield. His memory lives on in his children: Willie L. Tyson Jr. (Brittany), Tadarrell Gooden, and Nicole M. Tyson (Rayshawn Powell), as well as his numerous grandchildren: Douglas Watson, OraβDell Tyson, Mario Tyson, Brent Williams, Aysha Tyson, Imani Boyd, Deona Boyd, and Briniya Williams, along with his great-grandchildren: Naomi Watson, Mylo Watson, MaeβLeigh Crenshaw, DaβNiya Cross, and ArβMon Boyd. Willie’s presence will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, relatives, and a host of friends who held a special place in his heart.
