Willie Mae Gragg was born on December 12, 1934, in Camden, Alabama to Liddell and Phoebe Pettway. She was the youngest of eight children.
Willie Mae attended Alabama State University and taught school for over 35 years. She was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and received all Honors and privileges. She was an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) and the Camden Academy Alumni Association.
She later moved to Cleveland, Ohio and taught at Miles Park Elementary School.
Willie Mae was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Oakwood in Oakwood Village, Ohio. She was a woman full of life who loved those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Liddell and Phoebe Pettway; all of her siblings, Mary B. James, Jennie Lee Hicks, Walter Lee Pettway, Arthur Pettway, McDuffy Pettway, Ralph Pettway and Lillie Mixon.
Willie Mae is survived by her niece and caregiver, Jenett Andrus; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
