Winston Brian Bell was a devoted brother, uncle, great-uncle, and nephew, as well as a cherished friend to many, who transitioned on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
Born on July 12, 1969, in Cleveland, Ohio, Winston was the son of the late Everrett A. Bell and Jacquelyn C. Bell. He grew up in a loving home on Stockbridge in the Lee-Harvard community with his parents and sister, where he learned the value of hard work, education, and helping others.
Winston was a 1987 graduate of John Marshall High School, where he was salutatorian. Winston earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Miami University in 1992. Returning to Cleveland, he was initiated as a member of the Cleveland Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in 1996.
In 2004, he was a contestant on ESPN’s reality series Dream Job, hosted by Stuart Scott. He was a standout competitor who made it to the Top 6 in the second season of the show. In 2024, Winston and other contestants were remembered for the twenty-year anniversary of the show.
Winston started his professional career in banking, management consulting, and commercial banking. He worked for Delta Air Lines from 2017-2020 as a customer service agent. For the past twelve years, he worked in the CMSD as a long-term substitute at Wilbur Wright and Lousia May Alcott elementary schools. In addition, Winston worked at Bath & Body Works, where both staff and customers loved him.
He was a great educator whose impact reached far beyond the classroom, touching countless lives with his wisdom, encouragement, and dedication. He carried his intelligence and determination into every area of his life. Those who knew him admired both his sharp mind and his ability to inspire others.
Though small in stature, he was truly larger than life, known for his quick wit, charming nature, great personality, generous spirit, and love of sports. Winston’s presence brought energy, laughter, and warmth wherever he went. He was extremely intelligent, and he knew it! With his remarkable confidence, bold, unforgettable personality, and being completely obnoxious in the most charming way, he also had a natural ability to entertain those around him with his hilarious impersonations. In addition to being a remarkable orator, conversationalist, and a true walking encyclopedia, he possessed limitless knowledge of history and sports. His unique ability made all feel special, as he effortlessly captivated a room and made everyone feel heard and inspired.
Winston will live in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister Kimberly; niece Meckaela (Christopher); great-nephew Langston; and a host of cousins and friends.
The world is now quieter without him.
