Wyman McCary, who touched the lives of many, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and cherished memories. Wyman was born on September 21, 1941 in Plantersville, Alabama from the union of Frank and Elzora McCary. Wyman lived a life filled with passion, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
He attended John Adams High School in Cleveland, Ohio until he was 17 years old. He joined the Army with the promise to his father that he would get his GED while serving in the Army. He was a Medical Corpsman and was awarded the title of expert marksman and was honorably discharged. He also served in Ohio‘s military reserve, retiring with the rank of E9.
He had many careers including working as a custodian for Cleveland Public Schools, a police officer from Metro Hospital of Cleveland, and a Client Supervisor for the Cuyahoga County Developmental Center for mentally challenged adult clients. He was also the owner of the Blue Fox bar, multiple stores, and other realty property.
His biggest career was as a true man. Many family members lived with him when they were sick or in need. He helped people. He protected people. Wyman was a true inspiration to all who knew him. With a gentle spirit and infectious smile, he had an innate ability to uplift others and create a sense of belonging throughout his life. He formed deep connections with people from all walks of life, leaving an indelible impression wherever he went.
Wyman was a firm believer of God and his faithful strong. He was baptized at East Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
Wyman was a trustee P.E.R. COUNCIL NO 15 King Tutt Lodge 389 Cleveland, Ohio.
Wyman’s hobbies were reading history books, dancing, listening to music, eating BBQ, fishing, an art for fashion, being with people, and enjoying time with his family.
Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Carole, he is survived by four children: Wyman II (Heather), Carla (Michael) See, Mark, and Sean; sisters Maudest and Diane; brother Theodore (Dorella); grandchildren Cayla, Mark Jr., Shavonna, and a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
