Yvonne Waddy-Edmonds, age 72, formally of King George, VA passed away March 15, 2022. She was born on November 12, 1949, in E. St. Louis, Illinois to Shirley Creech-Parnell and Samuel Odell Waddy. She came to Akron, OH at 7 years old with her sister Inetta Parnell, her brother Melvin Parnell, and her younger sister Karen Renee Waddy.
She was a graduate of Central High School in Akron, OH and she also attended Kent State University. She served our country as an electrical engineer for the U.S. Navy for 19 years. She was stationed on five ships and two shore commands including a tour in Liberation of Kuwait – Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1991.
She was preceded by her mother, Shirley Creech-Parnell; father, Samuel Odell Waddy; sister, Inetta Parnell; brother, Melvin Parnell; uncles, Columbus Cole, Johnny Cole, George Parnell and Lewis Parnell; aunt, Inez Parnell; and grandmother, Carrie Cole.
Left to cherish her memory are her younger sister, Karen Renee Waddy; aunts, Edna Jean Barber-Harper and Mary Barber; uncle, Bobbie Lee Barber; nephews, Melvin Henderson, Jr., Steven Mins, Ronald Waddy, Michael Parnell, and John Waddy; along with a host of friends and family members.
