Yvonne Z. Rasberry was called to heavenly rest to be with the Lord on Monday, December 17, 2018.

Yvonne Zenobia (Lenoir) Rasberry was born on November 2, 1938, in Beckley, West Virginia through the union of Matthew and Sarah (Blackmon) Lenoir.  She was the eldest of six children.  Her early childhood was spent amongst a close extended family in West Virginia. The family relocated to Akron when Yvonne was 16 years of age.  She was a graduate of Akron East High School, completed training at Hammel Business College and later earned Associate degrees in Applied Science, and Business Marketing from The University of Akron.

Yvonne was baptized at an early age in West Virginia and joined Wesley Temple AME Church with her family after moving to Akron.  Most recently, she was a member of Greater Bethel Baptist Church.  She was guided in life by her faith and belief in God.

Yvonne worked a number of years for the Akron Public Library System.  She went on to work for the General Tire and Rubber Company for many years in the Marketing Research Division.  After leaving General Tire, she continued her career at The University of Akron Law Library retiring in October 2003.

Yvonne had a lifelong passion for sewing, making crafts, and creative home décor. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge and skills by teaching others at The University of Akron and other locations. Later in life, she developed an interest in organic cooking and natural remedies.

Yvonne was a devoted daughter to her parents Matthew and Sarah.  She valued her extended family relationships and always passed along encouraging words. She believed in the importance of family, continued education and training, and having a strong work ethic.  These were values instilled by her parents.

Yvonne married Leon Rasberry and through their union, they had four children. She was additionally blessed with seven grandchildren.  Yvonne was a devoted and nurturing parent who taught and demonstrated her values to her children.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Sarah Lenoir, her sister Carol Humphrey-Smith, grandsons Austin Rasberry, Justin Rasberry, and nephew David Denson Sr.

Yvonne leaves to mourn her passing, daughters Michele R. (Omar) Raheem, Lenora (Michael) Lodge; sons, Leon Rasberry Jr., Lawrence (Kelley) Rasberry; grandchildren, Deonna Raheem, Michael Lodge Jr., Terence Lodge, Kennedy Rasberry, Lindsey Rasberry; sisters, Gail Hopkins, Diane Denson, Brenda Lenoir; brother, Pierre Lenoir; nieces, Yvette Hopkins, Terraine Lenoir, Felicia Humphrey; nephews, Karlton Hopkins II, Matthew Lenoir II, Greg Denson; and many other family members and friends.
